Ingredients

4 tbsp butter, softened
8 tbsp brown sugar
3 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tbsp corn flour (cornstarch)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt
2 tbsp dark chocolate chunks
3 tbsp Nutella
Optional Toppings
1 tbsp chocolate chunks
Pinch of flaky sea salt

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Skillet
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Lightly grease a 4–5 inch skillet with oil or butter.
Step 2: Cream Butter and Sugar
In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and brown sugar.
Beat with a rubber spatula until pale and creamy, about 2 minutes.
Step 3: Add Wet Ingredients
Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until smooth and evenly combined.
Step 4: Make the Cookie Dough
Add the flour, corn flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chunks.
Fold everything together until a soft cookie dough forms.
Step 5: Assemble the Skillet Cookie
Press half of the dough evenly into the prepared skillet.
Spoon the Nutella into the center and spread slightly, leaving a small border around the edges.
Cover with the remaining cookie dough and smooth the top gently.
Step 6: Add Toppings
Sprinkle extra chocolate chunks and flaky sea salt on top if desired.
Step 7: Bake
Bake for 15–18 minutes until the edges are set and lightly golden while the center stays soft and gooey.
Step 8: Serve
Let cool for a few minutes before serving warm directly from the skillet.

Notes

Do not overbake or the cookie may become dry and hard.
The center should still look slightly soft when removed from the oven.
This recipe can also be baked in a 5-inch ramekin in the microwave for about 1 minute 30 seconds using the heating setting.
Serve with vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent dessert.
