1 pound (450g) ground beef

½ small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup (240ml) tomato sauce

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon mustard (yellow or Dijon)

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon chili powder (optional, for extra spice)

For the Texas Toast:

6 slices frozen Texas toast garlic bread

1 cup (100g) shredded cheddar cheese (or mozzarella)

1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Make the Sloppy Joe Mixture:

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onions for 5–7 minutes until browned.

Drain excess grease if needed.

Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, pepper, paprika, and chili powder.

Simmer for 5–7 minutes, until thickened.

Prepare the Texas Toast:

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

Arrange Texas toast slices on a baking sheet and bake for 5–7 minutes until golden and crisp.

Assemble and Bake:

Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture evenly over each piece of toast.

Top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Return to the oven and bake for 3–5 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve:

Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Use garlic Texas toast for added flavor and crispiness.

Toast first to prevent sogginess.

Drain grease for a cleaner, richer flavor.

Add toppings like jalapeños, bacon, or pickles for variety.

Serve fresh for the best melted cheese experience.
