Classic Salisbury steak made easy in the slow cooker! Juicy beef patties simmered in rich onion gravy—perfect with mashed potatoes or noodles.
2 lbs ground beef
1 packet onion soup mix
2 cups beef broth
1 large onion, sliced
Form Patties:
Shape ground beef into thick patties or large meatballs.
Optional Sear:
Brown the patties in a skillet over medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes per side to enhance flavor.
Layer in Slow Cooker:
Place sliced onions on the bottom of the slow cooker. Arrange beef patties over the onions.
Add Seasoning and Broth:
Sprinkle onion soup mix evenly over the meat. Pour in the beef broth.
Cook Low and Slow:
Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the beef is tender and flavorful.
Optional Gravy Thickener:
For a thicker gravy, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water and stir into the slow cooker during the last 30 minutes.
Serve:
Spoon patties and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles for a comforting, classic meal.
Browning the patties first adds depth of flavor but is optional.
Can be prepped ahead and frozen (uncooked) for an easy freezer-to-slow-cooker meal.
For extra flavor, add mushrooms or garlic to the gravy.
