Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
  • 8 oz beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the sliced onions and sauté until soft and slightly caramelized, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Return the beef to the pan, then add the cooked rice. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  5. Pour in the soy sauce and oyster sauce (if using), stirring constantly to evenly distribute the flavors. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the rice is heated through.
  6. Drizzle the sesame oil over the rice and sprinkle with chopped green onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Give everything one last stir and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use day-old rice for best texture to avoid sogginess.
  • Can substitute beef sirloin with flank steak, ribeye, or skirt steak.
  • Optional oyster sauce can be omitted or replaced with a gluten-free alternative for dietary needs.
  • Customize by adding vegetables like bell peppers, peas, or carrots.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet to maintain texture; microwaving is possible with occasional stirring.
