Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb macaroni (or any pasta)
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (or 4 fresh tomatoes, diced)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: Splash of water or beef broth

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook macaroni until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or saucepan, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the tomato paste and diced tomatoes to the beef, stirring to combine. Add a splash of water or beef broth if a looser sauce is desired.
  4. Let the mixture simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the cooked macaroni to the skillet and stir to combine until pasta is coated and heated through.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
