Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tbsp fresh lemon juice (for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp milk or cream (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Mix well.
  4. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until edges are set and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. While brownies cool, mix powdered sugar with lemon juice and milk to make glaze.
  8. Spread glaze over mostly cooled brownies and let set before slicing into squares.
