Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Dr. Pepper (regular, not diet)
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and Dr. Pepper. Mix until smooth.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 28–32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Cool completely in the pan before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
