Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage (casings removed)
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 deep-dish pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and sausage, cooking until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add onion and garlic; sauté until soft and fragrant.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, pizza sauce, oregano, and basil. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Press the deep-dish crust into a pie pan, making sure it’s evenly distributed.
  6. Layer half the meat sauce into the crust. Add a layer of pepperoni, then mozzarella and Parmesan.
  7. Repeat layers with remaining meat, pepperoni, and cheese.
  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
