Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, or other favorite spices

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, 1 cup cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and any desired spices.
  4. Spread the beef mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Top with frozen tater tots in a single layer.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese on top and bake for another 5 minutes, until melted and bubbly.
  8. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
