Ingredients

  • 8 oz lo mein noodles (or spaghetti)
  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (divided)
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (plus extra for noodles)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 bell pepper, julienned
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage or 1 cup snow peas (optional)
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain, rinse under cold water, and toss with a little sesame oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, marinate sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce, cornstarch, and 1/2 tsp sesame oil for 15 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, water, and a dash of sesame oil to make the sauce. Set aside.
  4. Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Stir-fry the beef until browned and just cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add another tbsp of oil to the pan. Sauté garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Add bell peppers, carrots, and cabbage or snow peas (if using). Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until crisp-tender.
  7. Return beef to the pan. Add cooked noodles and pour the sauce over everything.
  8. Toss well to coat and stir-fry for 1–2 minutes until everything is heated through.
  9. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Substitute beef with chicken, shrimp, or tofu for variation.
  • Use mushrooms, bok choy, or baby corn for extra veggies.
  • Add chili garlic sauce or crushed red pepper flakes for heat.
  • Rice noodles or ramen can be used in a pinch.
  • Prep sauce and ingredients ahead for faster cooking.
