Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets (skin-on or skinless)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes or cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
  2. Make several evenly spaced cuts across the top of each fillet, slicing about ¾ of the way through without cutting all the way through.
  3. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, garlic, paprika, chili flakes or cayenne, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Rub the marinade all over the salmon, making sure it seeps into the cuts.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Place salmon fillets in the air fryer basket, skin-side down if applicable.
  7. Cook for 10–12 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the top edges are slightly crisp.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley or cilantro and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust spice level by reducing chili flakes or substituting with smoked paprika.
  • For extra flavor, tuck lemon slices or jalapeños into the cuts before cooking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated in the air fryer or skillet.
  • Avoid microwaving to prevent drying out the salmon.
  • Pairs well with rice, roasted veggies, or cucumber salad.
