Pan fried cinnamon bananas that are warm, caramelized, and perfectly sweet. A quick 10 minute treat made with simple ingredients and perfect for breakfast, dessert, or topping pancakes and oatmeal.
2 bananas (slightly overripe)
2 tablespoons sugar (or sugar substitute)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Slice the bananas
Peel the bananas and slice them into rounds about ⅓ inch thick.
Mix the dry ingredients
In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Stir well and set aside.
Prepare the skillet
Lightly spray a large skillet with nonstick cooking spray and heat over medium-low heat.
Cook the bananas
Place the banana slices in the warm skillet in a single layer.
Add cinnamon mixture
Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the bananas. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the bottoms begin to caramelize.
Flip and finish cooking
Carefully flip the banana slices and sprinkle the remaining cinnamon mixture over them. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the bananas are soft, golden, and warmed through.
Serve immediately
Enjoy warm as a dessert, snack, or topping.
Slightly overripe bananas work best because they caramelize beautifully.
Use brown sugar instead of white sugar for deeper caramel flavor.
Add a small pat of butter to the skillet for extra richness if desired.
Serve over pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, or vanilla ice cream.
