Ingredients

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

2 tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

2 tsp instant yeast

2 tbsp butter, softened

¾ cup warm milk

1 large egg

Sesame seeds, for topping

Instructions

Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.

Add Wet Ingredients:
Add warm milk, egg, and softened butter. Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

First Rise:
Cover the dough and let it rise for 1–2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Shape Buns:
Divide the dough into equal portions and shape into balls. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Second Proofing:
Cover and let the buns proof for 30–40 minutes.

Prepare for Baking:
Brush the tops with milk or egg wash, and sprinkle sesame seeds.

Bake:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cool:
Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Egg wash gives a shiny, golden crust, while milk wash keeps the surface soft.

Store buns in an airtight container to keep them fresh for 2–3 days.

These buns freeze well; thaw at room temperature before slicing.
